MATRESCENCE DOULA + MOTHERHOOD COACH
MOTHERS CIRCLES
GROUP SUPPORT FOR WEST END UMC MOMS
8:30 - 9:30 | Room 304 | $10
The Second Thurs of the Month
One hour for West End moms to connect with other mothers in the church community navigating the same disorienting transformation of matrescence.
Next Meeting: Thursday, June 18th
NOTE: As mothers, we do so much for our babies, but this time is for you. If your child is not in daycare, please arrange for childcare during this hour so you can be fully present and gain the most from this Mothers Circle.
Feeling nervous to come alone? Been there. Text or email the other moms in your class or congregation and invite them to come! As the old saying goes, “it takes a village” — to raise a Mother too.
Mothers Circles that make sense of matrescence.
This is more than a support group. More than a space for new moms to meet other new moms. More than a gathering intended to provide connection and community in a world that’s increasingly disconnected.
Make no mistake: you WILL find that here. And more. In Mom Dog’s Mothers Circles, moms get the opportunity to learn about and explore the all-encompassing transformation of matrescence and the identity upheaval that comes along with it.
Knowing the word is one thing.
But understanding how it affects every aspect of your life — and what to do with that knowledge once you have it — is another thing entirely.
That’s what we’ll uncover, little by little, during this time together.
Meet the Facilitator
Maddie Adams
Hi! I'm Maddie.
Also known as Mom Dog.
I'm a mother of two, a matrescence doula, a yoga teacher, and a writer.
My transition into motherhood felt like an extended battle with and against myself. Like Kacey Musgraves song, I was Happy & Sad — all at the same time. And because my experience didn't follow the script I'd forever been fed (easy, beautiful, instinctual, joyful) I felt lost and lonely inside my imperfect reality.
When I discovered "matrescence" however, something shifted: I realized I wasn't the only one.
That bit of insight changed things for me. And as I began to share the truths of my experience — connecting with other moms who were equally raw and honest — motherhood slowly began to improve.
As a matrescence doula, I support moms navigating the identity-shattering transformation of motherhood. And in my Mother's Circles, I facilitate conversation and connection for those of us who are tired of performing perfection, ready to be understood, and eager to find their pack.
I’d love it if you joined me.

Maybe it’ll be yours.
